STOTT Pilates MAT Training (Introductory to Advanced) |
|
|
Developed by former professional dancer Moira Merrithew, with input from sports medicine professionals, STOTT PILATES is a contemporary, anatomically-based approach to Joseph Pilates' original exercise method that was developed in the late 1800’s.
Its exercises safely deliver optimal strength, flexibility and endurance, without adding bulk. In some respects pilates conditioning is like yoga. Both are considered mind-body type methods of movement; both emphasize deep breathing and smooth, long movements that encourage your muscles to relax and lengthen. The difference is that while yoga requires moving from one static posture to the next without repetitions, pilates flows through a series of movements that are more dynamic, systematic and anatomically-based. The goal with STOTT PILATES exercises is to achieve optimal functional fitness.
Our services are delivered by certified, professional fitness leaders. Each trainers' accreditations can be viewed online by clicking on Who We Are.
We offer thorough and effective training in learning the Essential syllabus in Levels 1 and 2. Levels 3 to 6 (PowerMat, Intermediate and Advanced) present a more intense, yet safe form of fitness as we focus on the pace and coordination of each move. Various pieces of resistance equipment are also added such as flexbands, fitness circles, toning balls, foam rollers, stability balls, overballs and BOSU.
We take pride in instructing MAT classes of 8 people maximum to ensure quality & effectiveness of training.

STOTT Pilates REFORMER Training (Introductory to Advanced) |
The STOTT PILATES core conditioning REFORMER is a highly versatile pilates-based resistance machine. It facilitates hundreds of exercise variations, is no-impact (and therefore easy on the joints), allows for modifications for those with injuries or conditions, allows for three-dimensional movement and conditioning, and is suitable for a wide variety of clients (from rehab to pro athlete). It also facilitates balanced strength and flexibility, provides eccentric and concentric muscle contraction (resistance on the in and out moves), total musculo-skeletal conditioning (muscles and postural alignment), and facilitates core conditioning and peripheral mobility.
By using springs for resistance, STOTT PILATES reformers more closely resemble the proper contraction of a muscle. There is greater resistance at the muscle's strongest point of contraction and less resistance on the initiation and completion of the contraction so there is less stress on tendons and ligaments and thus prevents over-training.
We take pride in instructing REFORMER group classes of 5 people to ensure quality & effectiveness of training. |

| CARDIOLATES (For those NEW to Pilates & for those that currently DO Pilates Exclusively at THE PILATES CENTRE) |
|
CARDIOLATES: the fusion of Pilates & Rebounding: CARDIOLATES® is a revolutionary fitness training program which combines the cardiovascular and cellular benefits of rebounding with the core strengthening and postural benefits of Pilates. Pilates effectively strengthens and flattens the abs, lengthens and tones muscles and improves posture, but it fails to provide one important health benefit: cardiovascular activity. Rebounding strengthens the body’s musculoskeletal system by providing an increased gravitational load without the impact to the joints that running, jogging or aerobics generates.
Benefits include: Low-impact on joints: 87% of one’s body weight is absorbed; 68% more efficient than running at a moderate pace; Improves body composition (Melts Fat!); Improves endurance & cardiovascular health; Increases bone density and fortifies the immune system; Increases balances & agility; and Strengthens the core & pelvic floor muscles.
We take pride in instructing Cardiolates classes of 5 people in order to ensure quality & effectiveness of training.
